Implementation at St George’s University Hospitals NHS Trust

In the autumn of 2017 MEDILOGIK were awarded the contract to replace the existing reporting systems in all three Endoscopy Units within the Trust.

EMS was successfully implemented in the St George’s unit in March 2018 with the remaining units to follow aligned with local Cerner PMS Upgrades later in the year.

MEDILOGIK delivered an HL7 Interface for demographic data from the Trust Cerner Millennium PMS. Plans are ongoing to enhance this further by feeding referral information from Cerner to EMS to enable the Endoscopy admin team to fully utilise the Scheduling and Booking functionality within EMS.

A bi-directional link will then feed appointment status updates back to Cerner at every step of the endoscopy pathway thus enabling the Trust to support national reporting direct from Cerner.

As part of the implementation MEDILOGIK also imported the legacy reports from the Trust Micromed system as pdf files and are grateful to Mr Roger Leicester, Consultant Colorectal Surgeon, for his assistance with this work. Electronic submission of procedure reports and images will shortly be implemented to GP’s as a short-term solution pending full integration of these reports with Cerner.

Implementation by end March enabled the Trust to meet the 1 April deadline to export report data to the new National Endoscopy Database NED.
