Building the future of endoscopy management

Learn about the passionate team behind MEDILOGIK and their commitment to excellence
David Simpson

David Simpson

Product Director
Key responsibilities at MEDILOGIK

I have been involved in the GI Endoscopy market for almost 30 years and was fortunate, due to the growth of the company, recently to be able to relinquish my management role to concentrate on product content.

From the launch of the MEDILOGIK EMS product 12 years’ ago, it has been my responsibility to ensure the application meets the day-to-day reporting requirements for endoscopy services - both NHS and independent - including satisfying all national audit and reporting requirements for the GRS and JAG.

The MEDILOGIK EMS application has benefited from input received from my numerous consultant and endoscopist contacts and enables us to be able to claim that MEDILOGIK EMS truly meets endoscopy services requirements at all levels.

Along with our development and QA team, I take pride in being the only supplier to meet the LIVE compliance standard for the National Endoscopy Database (NED) in 2019 - and we have continued to be the dominant supplier to the NEDi2.1 project.

Professional background

My NHS career was based on implementing patient administration systems, before I moved over to supporting an entire combined NHS trust at all levels - including the rapid procurement of numerous systems such as X-ray and laboratory.

From there, I spent two years managing one of the two national patient management systems in Scotland.  I was introduced to the world of endoscopy via the original EndoScribe system. From there, I became a director and shareholder at Unisoft, where I was successful in delivering a solution to every health board in Scotland in addition to the North of England.

Failure to enhance our technical delivery and GRS requirements resulted in my being persuaded by key clinicians and IT directors to look elsewhere and resulted in the launch of MEDILOGIK EMS in 2013.

Personal interests

In my youth, football, tennis and cricket (“obdurate batsmen” due to my hero Boycs). Then, ten years as a football match official - with Scottish Cup Final and European trips the highlight. Resigned now to walking, reading, and watching Celtic and Spurs.
